NORTH BEND, Wash. — Interstate 90 was closed in both directions Thursday evening following multiple semi-truck crashes between North Bend and Ellensburg. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) first reported the crashes at 5:43 p.m. on its Snoqualmie Pass X page, announcing the closure of eastbound I-90 near the summit at milepost 47. Shortly after, WSDOT updated that westbound I-90 was also closed at Easton (milepost 70), with no estimated time for reopening.A later update extended the closure, with I-90 shut down at Ellensburg (milepost 106) westbound and eastbound traffic blocked at North Bend (milepost 34) as authorities worked to clear the wreckage. Officials stated that reopening would be delayed while they waited for Class C tow trucks to remove the damaged vehicles.Washington State Patrol Trooper Rick Johnson took to X at 6:12 p.m. to remind drivers that winter conditions were still affecting Snoqualmie Pass, urging travelers to follow restrictions and prepare for hazardous weather in the coming days.At 9:04 p.m., WSDOT announced that eastbound I-90 had reopened, though westbound lanes remained closed at Ellensburg.
