A shooting at Virgil Flaim Park in Seattle on Monday evening left two men dead, according to the Seattle Police Department. The incident occurred near an encampment at 2700 Northeast 123rd Street, where officers found one victim deceased at the scene and another who later died at the hospital from gunshot wounds. SPD responded with K-9 units and aerial support from the Guardian I helicopter, while detectives began interviewing witnesses to piece together what happened. The motive and circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear.
Local resident Charles Hall, who lives across from the park, described hearing rapid gunfire and seeing people fleeing the area. He believes his partner may have seen the suspect running south from the park shortly after the shots were fired. Hall lamented the change in the neighborhood, noting that the park was once a desirable location to live near. Police are continuing their investigation and have asked anyone with information to contact them.
