**14-Year-Old Driver Killed, Three Teens Injured in Bothell Crash**
In Botell Washington there was a tragic car crash early Saturday morning in Bothell left a 14-year-old driver dead and three other teens injured. According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the crash occurred around 1:50 a.m. on northbound I-405, just south of State Route 527 near milepost 26. A 2013 Honda CR-V veered off the road, struck a guardrail, and came to a stop down an embankment. The 14-year-old boy driving the car was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt. Three passengers—a 14-year-old girl, a 15-year-old girl, and another 15-year-old were injured and transported to Evergreen Hospital for treatment. Authorities noted that two of the passengers were not wearing seatbelts. “All fatal crashes are difficult to respond to, but when young lives are lost, it’s even more heartbreaking,” said WSP Trooper Kelsey Harding. The WSP confirmed that the deceased driver and two of the passengers were from Bellevue, while the third passenger was from Everett. Officials also stated that the 14-year-old driver did not have a license or permit, as Washington law requires drivers to be at least 16 for a license and 15 for a learner’s permit. The crash closed three lanes of northbound I-405 for several hours, with all lanes reopening around 5 a.m., according to the Washington State Department of Transportation. Investigators are working to determine how the teens obtained the vehicle and whether it had been taken without permission. “Regardless of the circumstances, no one deserves to lose their life. It’s devastating to have to inform a parent that their child isn’t coming home,” Trooper Harding said.
