A Delta Air Lines Airbus A319 had a close call with a U.S. Air Force T-38 jet near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. The incident occurred as Delta Flight 2983, bound for Minneapolis-St. Paul, departed at 2:55 p.m. ET. The aircraft’s Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) activated, and the flight crew followed procedures to avoid a collision. The Air Force jet, often used for training, was in the area for a flyover at Arlington National Cemetery.
The Delta flight had 131 passengers, two pilots, and three crew members on board. Despite the close call, no injuries were reported, and the flight arrived at its destination 10 minutes late. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the incident.
