Early Saturday morning, tragedy struck Spanaway when a house party turned deadly, leaving two people dead and four others injured. The shooting occurred on the 17800 block of 25th Ave Ct. East, where dozens of juveniles had gathered. Isaiah Davion Williams, a 17-year-old involved in the shootout, has been charged as an adult with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.
Neighbors had reported the loud party late Friday night, prompting deputies to respond; however, they were diverted to higher-priority calls, delaying their arrival. By early Saturday morning, reports escalated from fighting in the street to gunfire. Deputies reached the scene shortly after shots were fired but faced difficulty navigating the crowded neighborhood due to illegally parked cars. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while another succumbed to injuries after surgery at St. Joseph’s Medical Center. Williams himself was injured in the shootout and taken to Tacoma General Hospital for treatment.
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office clarified that staffing levels remain consistent despite a growing population, and they highlighted the challenges faced in responding to the chaotic scene. Williams is scheduled to appear in Superior Court as investigations continue, leaving the Spanaway community in shock and searching for answers in the wake of this devastating event.
