Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, served from 1977 to 1981. During his presidency, he made negotiated about the Camp David Accords in 1978, established the U.S. Department of Education in 1980, and created the Department of Energy.

After his presidency, Carter and his wife Rosalynn founded the Carter Center in 1982, focusing on promoting peace, democracy, and health globally. The center has monitored elections in 39 countries and led public health initiatives. Carter volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, building homes for those in need. In 2002, he received the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts in international conflict resolution and human rights advancement.

Carter passed away on December 29, 2024, at the age of 100. He had entered hospital care about 22 months earlier, and his death came just over a year after the passing of his wife, Rosalynn, in November 2023. His contributions to peace, human rights, and public service are recognized worldwide.
