Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he plans to meet President Donald Trump in Florida on Sunday, signaling potential movement in U.S.-supported peace efforts to end the nearly four‑year war with Russia. Zelenskyy said the meeting will focus on security guarantees and a nearly completed 20‑point peace plan, while Ukrainian officials added that economic recovery and reconstruction will also be on the agenda. Although U.S. officials have not confirmed the meeting, Trump has suggested he will evaluate Ukraine’s proposals directly.

The diplomatic push comes as both Kyiv and Moscow signal limited but notable shifts. Zelenskyy, who previously rejected territorial concessions, recently said he might consider handing over some areas if Russia withdraws troops to create a demilitarized zone monitored by international forces. Russia, meanwhile, has hinted at “slow but steady progress” in talks, though President Vladimir Putin continues to demand control over the entire Donbas region and has shown no willingness to withdraw from occupied territory.

On the ground, the conflict remains active. Ukraine reported Russian drone strikes damaging foreign‑flagged vessels in Odesa and Mykolaiv, while Ukrainian forces struck a major Russian oil refinery using British‑supplied Storm Shadow missiles. Kyiv aims to undermine Russia’s war financing by targeting refineries, while Moscow continues attacks on Ukraine’s power grid in what Ukrainian officials describe as an effort to “weaponize winter” by depriving civilians of essential services.
