Defense Department officials recently told senators that the first six days of the war in Iran cost over $11.3 billion. However, some lawmakers, like Senator Chris Coons, believe the real price tag is much higher once you factor in the massive cost of replacing expensive munitions. As the conflict enters its 11th day, the Trump administration is now working with Congress to figure out how much extra taxpayer money will be needed to fund the growing military operations. The human cost is also rising quickly, with over 1,200 deaths reported in Iran and hundreds more across Israel, Lebanon, and the UAE. So far, seven U.S. service members have died, and tensions are spiking near the Strait of Hormuz after the U.S. military destroyed several Iranian naval vessels. While President Trump has given mixed signals about how long the fighting will last, the military remains heavily engaged in strikes across the region.
