Dry weather and rising temperatures across the Puget Sound region have triggered new burn restrictions and heightened warnings about wildfire danger. Puget Sound Fire announced a Stage 1 burn ban for unincorporated King County beginning Tuesday, prohibiting yard‑debris burning and land‑clearing fires, though recreational fires and propane appliances remain allowed. The advisory, which began Monday at 11 a.m., will stay in effect through Wednesday night as temperatures in parts of the region climb toward 90 degrees.

Statewide fire restrictions also remain in place on all Bureau of Land Management public lands in Washington and Oregon as the Pacific Northwest enters a warmer, drier stretch. The BLM is reminding visitors that fireworks, exploding or metallic targets, steel‑component ammunition, tracer devices, and sky lanterns are all prohibited, with many local rules also limiting power‑tool use and campfire types. Officials say preventing human‑caused fires is critical as even a single spark can ignite a fast‑moving wildfire, putting firefighters and communities at risk.
