Americans celebrated the 250th Fourth of July with fireworks, parades, ships on the water, and big crowds, even though heat and storms messed things up in a lot of places. In Washington, Trump gave a late speech after the National Mall was evacuated for bad weather, praising the country and pushing his voter ID plan before a huge fireworks show. Across the country, people still enjoyed the holiday. Philly rang bells, New York had tall ships, Monticello welcomed new citizens, and L.A. parks filled up for weekend parties. Some events were canceled because of heat or fire danger, and a small fire happened on the Brooklyn Bridge during fireworks, but no one was hurt.
