Sen. Mitch McConnell said he has left the rehab center and is now recovering at home after his mid‑June fall. He thanked medical staff and said he will keep working remotely, but he did not say when he will return to the Senate. His long absence raised questions because he had not appeared in public since June 14, and his staff would not give updates. Emergency radio traffic last month suggested paramedics performed CPR at his home. McConnell later said he briefly lost consciousness, did not break any bones, and had been treated for pneumonia while in the hospital. Since the incident, McConnell has missed more than fifty Senate votes and is expected to miss the upcoming vote on Todd Blanche’s nomination for attorney general. He is retiring at the end of his term in January. McConnell has dealt with several medical problems in recent years, including a concussion in 2023, flu‑like symptoms earlier this year, and moments where he froze while speaking. He also fractured his shoulder in 2019 after a fall. He is among the oldest senators, along with Chuck Grassley and Bernie Sanders.
